DiCaprio's "The 11th Hour" documentary brings green back into theaters

After appearing with former Vice President Al Gore to talk about environmental issues at this year’s Academy Awards ceremony, DiCaprio has produced and narrated a new documentary, “The 11th Hour,” about global warming and human environmental impact. The film debuts today in New York and Los Angeles, two cities not known for taking a gentle touch with Mother Nature.
The film is composed like a list of issues affecting the natural world: deforestation, mass species extinction, global warming, and ocean depletion. Each of these topics is also considered in terms of the human actions that cause them. The film includes interviews with Orr, Mikhail Gorbechev, Stephen Hawking, Bruce Mau, and William McDonough.
Directed by sisters Leila Conners Petersen and Nadia Conners, who operate the Tree Media Group and have worked with DiCaprio before, the film will go into wide release on August 24. An accompanying website for the film includes commentaries and interviews with sustainable advocates, as well as the ability to form on-line groups to meet in person to view the film and discuss it.
