In this role, Jones’ brief includes developing a climate policy that generates jobs, ensuring equal protection and opportunity in climate-protection and energy proposals, and serving as a public advocate for the Obama administration’s environmental and energy agendas.

Immediately after completing Yale Law School, Jones founded a legal referral service for victims of police brutality in the Bay Area. Later he worked to reform California’s juvenile justice system, co-founded the Ella Baker Center for Human Rights and the advocacy group Color of Change, and in 2007 founded Green for All, which promotes “an inclusive green economy strong enough to lift people out of poverty.” In 2008 Jones published The Green Collar Economy, which became a New York Times bestseller.
