LiveRoof

LiveRoof
LiveRoof is a green roof system that uses 100 percent pre-consumer recycled polypropylene planting modules. They come pre-filled with an engineered growing medium and pre-planted with drought-resistant flora chosen on the basis of client preference and local growing conditions. After installation, the soil and plants merge together with neighboring modules to form a single plant bed. Waterproofing and a root barrier must first be installed by a qualified contractor. CertainTeed’s Ecophon Ceiling Panels

CertainTeed’s Ecophon Ceiling Panels
The base component of CertainTeed’s five families of Ecophon fiberglass acoustic ceilings is made with over 70 percent post-consumer glass bottles and jars. Most Ecophon panels have passed California’s indoor air quality standard (01350) and have been placed on the Low-emitting Materials Table by the Collaborative for High Performance Schools (CHPS). Several lines offer an anti-glare coating that makes them especially appropriate for daylighting or indirect lighting applications. According to the manufacturer, the sound absorption of these panels substantially outperforms more commonly used mineral-fiber acoustic ceiling panels. Ecoblue Cube

Ecoblue Cube
The Ecoblue Cube is a small urinal block that eliminates the need to flush most urinals (except during routine cleaning), providing an alternative to upgrading to high-efficiency models. Containing naturally occurring bacteria, water softeners, perfume, and biodegradable surfactants, it forms an invisible biofilm over a urinal’s surface and trapway that breaks down uric acid, eliminates odor, and reduces maintenance. According to the manufacturer, the Ecoblue Cube can be used in waterless urinals as a substitute for the trap-seal fluid. Ecoblue Corp; Tucson, AZ. www.ecobluecorp.com; 877-326-2823.

Eco Waterless Urinal

Eco Waterless Urinal
The Eco Waterless Urinal is a porcelain waterless urinal that uses an elastic check valve instead of a liquid sealant. The valve unrolls when liquid is draining—then rolls back up again, providing a sanitary seal. It allows flow rates as low as an intermittent drip, but also permits rinse water to flush right through. According to the manufacturer, the valve isn’t harmed by normal urinal cleansers, can be removed for maintenance, and never needs replacing. The urinal and polymer check-valve cartridge come with a 10-year warranty. Ecotech Water, LLC; St. Pete Beach, FL. www.ecotechwater.com;

CarbonCast Insulated Wall Panels

CarbonCast Insulated Wall Panels
Altus Group’s CarbonCast insulated wall panels use epoxy-coated carbon-fiber trusses that allow thinner concrete skins, reducing cement use and increasing the amount of insulation that can be accommodated in a given wall thickness. The panels can be made with a variety of insulations, including EPS and mineral wool, providing R-values ranging from R-8 to R-30. (XPS insulation should be avoided until it has been reformulated to eliminate the ozone-depleting HCFC-blowing agent.) It should be noted that bisphenol-A, a component of epoxy, is part of this product’s lifecycle. AltusGroup; Lancaster, PA. www.altusprecast.com;

Rediscovered-Wood Doors

Rediscovered-Wood Doors
Liberty Valley Doors uses reclaimed wood from demolished buildings to create entryways and doors.
